I need some help with ideas! My boyfriend is leaving at the end of next summer to either:

A. Move to California with our friend to play music and hang out for a year

or

B. Move to Idaho to go to college and study music like a mad man.

I know that's about a year away, but I have decided that for his going away/graduation gift I am going to make him a quilt that basically reflects the past two years that we've spent together, and how much we've loved each other. I'm getting a super early start, because I know that it's going to be a long and drawn out process.

I need so much help though. I know how to make a simple quilt, which is what I'm going to do. But I don't quite know what to put on it/make it out of, so that it is unique.

Help help help! I want creative ideas and romantic suggestions for things I could do. Thank you so much!

So, anyone find that acrylic paint mixed with textile medium still makes the shirt kinda stiff? I mixed it about 2:1, like the instructions said, but I really can't see that much difference than if I used straight acrylic. I haven't bothered heat-setting it or washing it because the design turned out awfully.. would that soften it up if I did?

I was talking to a guy who sells his own singlets, he said you can buy some kind of fabric paint made especially for screen printing that works well. Anyone heard of/used this?

This is almost completely irrelevant and OT.

I got my wisdom teeth out yesterday. After about 8 hours, I realized that the Vicodin I got contains acetaminophen, something I'm allergic to, thus explaining the nausea/nosebleed/dizziness. So, I was stuck with bleeding, painful tooth sockets and no dope.

I remembered seeing those rice bag warmer thingies on here a while back, so I filled some tube socks with some jasmine rice, nuked those mofackies, and pressed them to my swollen chipmunk-cheeks. It feels soooooooooo good.

Sorry for wasting a few moments of everyone's lives, but maybe it's worth it if one crafty person is spared a bit of tooth-hole pain.

Mods... delete if warranted!

A whole mess of pictures behind the cut. This is about 60% of what I've created since August 26. =) (I'm a crossposting maniac! Posted to [livejournal.com profile] beadwork, [livejournal.com profile] jewelry_bazaar, [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl and [livejournal.com profile] antirealitygirl.)

Image intensive. Beware :P )

My sweetie and I just celebrated the anniversary of our first date, so I made her a few small prezzies. We love going to the beach and sadly the season is coming to an end, so I made a pocket beach kit she can keep on her desk. The inspiration came from here. Pardon the cell phone quality photos!

Then I made a set of silly magnets from keyboard keys packaged in a decoupaged AOL tin. Yeah, I'm a dork.

Thanks for looking!

Any ideas?

Yesterday I went to a wallpaper store hoping I would leave with a book of samples for card-making. The lady gave me five, and I don't need that many for cards.

I looked under the Memories section, but didn't really see anything I wanted to do with them. Can anyone think of something besides Orgami and card-making that I could do with my *five* huge books of wallpaper samples?

Thanks!

and thank everyone who suggested to use it (in the memories that is, i hadn't asked about it)
i've done successful stencils before by rolling up scotch tape and placing it along all of the edges, which as you can imagine, is tedious and frsutrating
this is my first try with spray adhesive and i think i almost had a heartattack when i saw how well it worked
the shirt isnt finished, but i just had to take a picture of this part as soon as i peeled off the stencil

I'm not sure what the community's policy is on advertising other communities, so if I'm wrong in doing this.. Please let me know and I'll delete the entry.

Two years ago, [livejournal.com profile] brainpuberty, my first journal incarnation created a community called [livejournal.com profile] craft_qs. The purpose of the community was to ask questions. Questions ranging from "What is this called?" to "How does this work?" and back again. As DIY becomes more and more popular, people are desperate for gift ideas, and we're always willing to offer them!

The community fell into disrepair as I became busier and busier in real life, but I am working hard to resurrect it, and I need your help.

I notice that a lot of questions are asked in this community, and I want to invite you to try them at [livejournal.com profile] craft_qs. Our members are friendly and knowledgeable and eager to answer your questions. Everyone is welcome, whether you sew or knit, crochet, make jewelry or paint furniture. If you have a question, don't be afraid to ask.

I consider [livejournal.com profile] craft_qs to be a sister community with [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl. The userinfo lists [livejournal.com profile] craft_qs as a community for beginner crafters, but really, it's for everyone.

Please take a look =) If you don't have questions to ask, surely you can answer one or two! =)

i'm hoping to have a Halloween party this year. i've aaaalways wanted to have one, but have never had my own place. but now i do :D

anyway...i want to decorate the whole flat. but i'm a bit stuck for ideas. one thing i just thought of though, was to somehow make my own 'wallpaper'. i know you can buy it...but it's expensive and it'd have to be shipped from the US for me...as i'm in the UK.
i thought of using black and grey paper. or maybe just white paper and paint it. any ideas??
