Ah! Text only...sue me.

I need help.

Someone on here posted a wallet that they bought...exact syle as www.stitchpixie.com but its a different company. I cannot for the life of me find it because there are now 938475091873498613 new posts. Its a larger wallet that folds out sort of...I'm being vague, but help would be appreciated.

Pleaseandthankyou!!

I was going to get some of those free swatches from that home furnishings company, but alas, I didn't find the link...

Could someone point out the link to me, kindly?
(I know this is the 698172569 time this has been asked, but I don't think it was ever added to memories in the fabrics section, if it was added at all :/)

So, JoAnn Fabrics has 40% off jewelery making supplies, i.e. beads, string, sequins, BLUE MOON BEADS. *cough* so I got bottle beads, a strand of agate, two clasps, and nylon "monofilament" (just to sound like I know what I'm talking about). Then my dad came home from Cancun with a bag of shells, which fit nicely into the bottle beads. I hate the necklace, and I'm thinking about giving it to a friend for an upcoming gift-giving holiday, or just selling it (in both occasions, I'll replace the shells with somthing less important)

here goes

Someone posted a few weeks ago, about a book that was bought at Jo-Ann's. The book was about selling crafts without getting ripped off. Who posted that entry? I need your help!!! What's the name of that book? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :-)

I knitted my first sock! )

It's the Pippi Kneestockings pattern from Stich-N-Bitch, and it knitted much more quickly than I expected. The only snag was the in the directions for transitioning from the heel back to the foot, where the directions seemed totally confusing to me. Even the lady who runs my LYS thought it was worded strangely, but ultimately I got it worked out. It's not perfect, but it still makes me perfectly happy.

i have a dilemma. i have been losing weight (yay! 17 lbs so far!) and not only are my pants falling off me but they are beginning to sag in the grossest places...butt especially. my best friend is losing weight too and is having a similar problem (sagging in tummy and butt area). i checked the memories but there doesn't seem to be anything on making pants, jeans especially, smaller. i made the mistake of ripping out the waist band seam on a pair of jeans in an attempt to make them skinnier and to drop the waist . . . but now it is an awful mess. i can't sew over those button like things they put on the pockets. what am i to do? i am holding out on buying new clothes until i lose more weight, but my clothes are making me look quite frumpy! HELP!

I upgraded to a photo iPod (yay!) and all of the available cases are so overpriced.

This site is adorable. If only I had a hobby like taking a stuffed monkey everywhere with me and then having him tell the story of my life. *L*

EDIT: I meant to post this in my personal journal, but the monkey does do some crafty things so I'll leave this here too! *headdesk*

OMG, you guys, the show is hilarious. I am not too sure about the judge, but they managed to make it interesting. I liked how they have a teaching session of how to make whatever they're making. Not quite sure of using the Whitie Tightie to be a top. Eeek.

Someone was saying that they have knitting kit at Target. I saw them, and they're interesting, um... I mean, I might be old fashion, but do people actually knit a bikini? BTW, they're having clearance of a bunch of sticker for scrapbook people, I use it in my stamping and other junk. So, that worked in my advantage. Meantime, they started to have a $1 cornor, which also have alot of scrapbook stuff, and sticker stuff. Go now and buy junk!

so, my best friend of 8 years and i are going to be going to different colleges this fall and i'm looking into making her a some what odd gift. we're completely different but have always meshed well. she gets a crack out of my indie elistism and i laugh at her pop music, but we enjoy each other. my point is, i'm going to make her a stuffed me. now, i'm not going to have any problem with that part BUT i do need some help finding a recordable soundbox [like what they sell at build-a-bear] that will allow me to record atleast 3-5 fun mandee catch phrases. ie: "shame, that bitch is such a total skank" or "i made a new playlist on my ipod. it embodies the postmodern life without being too malevolent of the times. you'll hate it!" [blah blah blah, i know] i'm have zero luck and i didnt know if someone here could help. any leads are welcome. thanks<3

Tabi Pouch

Apr. 2nd, 2005 05:02 pm
[identity profile] alustrialcrafts.livejournal.com
I've been so busy the last week that being able to sit down and sew today was a great stress reliever.

I received a bunch of new fabric from Japan on Thursday and was just itching to sew something with some of it. There were are few adorable 3 inch wide long strips that I thought I'd start with - I thought they might be nice on a tabi pouch...so I gave it ago. The black fabric is black silk from kuro tomesode - the middle piece is some of the new silk I got from Japan and the inside was this gorgeous, lush, thick silk lining from an old kimono...for some reason...the age discolouration on it caused the most beautiful colour.

Making the pouch was pretty easy - I just used a pattern for a drawstring pouch and adjusted the length. The top flap was just a replication of the bottom of the pouch.

Unfortunately, it was too narrow for my liking - and I made it about half an inch to short for my tabi. I guess that means I need to make a new one? :]

The scooter scarf!! Finally completed!
I ended up ripping out the knitted scooter and just cutting one out of canvas and zig-zagging it on with the sewing machine. I never knew I could do that.
More shots of the scarf, plus another scarf, and some shirts under the cut

Help needed!

From anyone who knows where I might find zips in the UK. Preferably on the net or maybe in London as I don't drive and I can get to London easily by train. It's for a dress for a friend and we need about 8 zips, with silver metal teeth. Like these ones,

And at least, 20" long. All we've been able to find is brass teeth which really doesn't go with the outfit. Any help would be much appreicated.

Thanks.

so this is the outcome.

There's a costume party in a few weeks and I'm at a bit of a loss for a costume. I haven't actually dressed up in years and now I need to, but I have no idea what to dress up as. I'm looking to partially make it/put together, so any suggestions would help.

I'm not looking for anything like a butterfly or a princess (or anything too gross, on the other side of things). I've considered being a pirate, but I'm not sure how many will do that. Since everyone here is crazy-talented, I thought maybe some of you have experience with this kind of thing...

Also, thanks for the suggestions for stuff to make for my friend (even if that was awhile ago). I got really sick and still haven't gotten around to it, even though she's already been here and left.

It's been a month or so of sewing, and now I've got craft-ies to show for it. There are only one or two of these items that I feel are 'really good,' the rest I'm kind of looking at and going 'well, I like it anyway.' (A lot of the stuff on this site is so good I'm kind of nervous about posting more of my stuff, but I like this group a lot because everyone is so supportive).

Anyway, here's a pic of all of it plus a couple bags and then for individual items I'll just post links. I took a lot of (so-so quality) pictures.

I'm x-posting this a couple places.

more to come, it's a crazy craft weekend for me, as all my friends are theater majors and have a show opening this week, thus they are in dress rehearsals like crazy and I'm otherwise alone and bored!

Okay, you guys always have such great ideas. I've been lurking for awhile and now I'm blank on ideas so I hope maybe someone can help my inspiration get a jumpstart. I just got this great new apartment and everythings wonderful except the bathroom is this old lady pink and gray tile. Where the tile ends (about halfway up the wall) the wall is painted a flat white. I was thinking about stenciling or stamping a border around the top so that it sort of draws the white and gray and pink together. I can't decide what to do though. I thought about little pink and gray elephants (maybe even with wings to be really kooky) but my boyfriend vetoed the idea. He doesn't like elephants, he said even unicorns would be better. :P So, now I'm stuck. I can't think of anything that wouldn't be totally hideous in pink and gray. Well, unicorns might not be bad, but I'm not too unicorny. Anyway, any suggestions are awesome. Thanks! - Sarah

Yay! I finally finished my purse a la [livejournal.com profile] wildpurple out of granny squares. Ch-ch-check out the Return of That 70s Bag! )

Obviously, it took me longer than hers and looks kinda shaky...but she's a professional! I wanted to finish it sooner, but I've only been able to work on it after the store closes. :p Hope ya'll like it! I was thinking of doing some in a maroon and white motif to sell in a consignment shop here, but if I do that, I'm NOT hand-sewing the liner unless I'm getting a decent price!

x-posted to mah verrah own journal!

I've been making jelly jigglers in jelly bean shaped molds, and have been using cheap grocery store brand cooking spray in them for the mold release like the jello site recommends. They leave the turtles just a little bit slimy though, and I can taste the cooking spray when I eat them. If I try to eat a handful of them it's downright nauseating... Is it because I'm using the cheap cooking spray brand? Would a special brand for candy making or something work better? I tried not using the spray then running hot water over the back of the mold and trying to get them loose after that, and it wasn't enough.

Ok, no pictures, (blah blah, text is boring) but I just (and my just I mean 4 hours ago) got home from JoAnn Fabrics with more 40% off beads. Ugh... I bought one of those 1 lb bags of glass beads for like $4... a lot of them are broken or mishapen, and I spent 2 hours cleaning them all because they were dirty and foggy. The unbroken ones are beautiful glass, but I'm still upset over the fact that I had to put 2 hours into cleaning them and many of them are broken. This is just a warning to everyone. I know a lot of you go to the stores planning on what you're going to buy, but for those of you who don't, I'm just telling you.
