My first post with pics...ooooh!

My best friend's daughter's birthday is coming up. She's going to be 3. She LOVES Dora the Explorer, so when I saw Dora fabric in the reminent bin, I grabbed it. I'm making her pillows for her birthday, since I already bought her a Dora blanket a while ago.
Here is my first pillow( ...... )
I know it isn't anything spectacular, but I'm proud of it.
After I was done with that, I found some baby shower wrapping paper that was left over from a few weeks ago...I used it to make these. I wasn't sure if the glitter would still be glittery or not. I'm happ with the way they turned out. I'm going to attach magnets to the back after they dry and give them to the mother-to-be.
I'm making more (simple) pillows today, so expect more (boring) pillow pics.

Am I Gurumi?
Aug. 27th, 2005 11:31 am![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)

My first attempt at a complete Amigurumi animal and my first post here. I made up the pattern because I find crochet instructions really confusing (yo, dc, sc, lp, argh!) so it was trial and error. He's very tiny so it's been hard to get a good photo.
Crossposted around the place.

I need your help, desperately! I'm trying to make a skirt like this long link
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000722AK/sr=1-1/qid=1125171153/ref=sr_1_1/002-6634566-6378440?%5Fencoding=UTF8&n=1040662&s=apparel&v=glance
How would I go about doing that? Meaning, cutting the fabric, placing it together?? Does anyone have a tutorial!? AHH, thank you!

This afternoon's wild hare:

Black & yellow faux fur front, with black vinyl sides, back, strap, etc....
The inside is fully lined in black cotton with a welt inset pocket, and the bottom has a piece of very stiff cardboard that I sewed into some vinyl to give it a fighting chance if it gets wet.
The straps are linked into 'D' rings, and the D ring holders are held onto the sides with 3 chrome rivets each side.
The only thing I would do differently would be to reinforce the sides of the purse with some stiff material since even though I reinforced right where the rivets are with some thick leather I'm still afraid it's putting too much stress in the immediate area and will eventually rip out or shorten the life of the vinyl right there.
The zipper is also a salvage from another piece of clothing.
No pattern, 3 hours work, not too shabby.
That's all folks!
Ta.
P.s. x-posted cuz I like showing my goodies (not *that* kind.....you sick monkies)

glue on stretchy string

i'm making a necklace out of origami lucky stars. i want to space them out though, and am using this plasticky see-through stretchy string. should i use a hot glue gun to glue the stars into place, or would this melt the string?
thanks, and i shall post a pic of the results :)

OK. This may or may not be the right place to ask this. If it's not feel free to ignore and/or delete.
I'm making a painting of Cary Brothers. I'm painting this picture:
and I'm painting it in those colors. Any ideas on what I could do with the background? I'm completely lost... I'd also kind of like to have lyrics on it too.
Any ideas?
