Mar. 31st, 2006 06:36 amhere's my first "baby sock boquet" I made for my friend's baby shower last weekend. I had followed directions from online. But I've never used anything having to do with floral arrangements or silk flowers. So I had no idea floral "tape" wasn't actually sticky! haha I was so frustrated but finally figured out how to get it to work :)

Mar. 31st, 2006 09:00 amOkay, let's hope this thing works. Thanks so much for the quick responses, guys! =)
This piece is made from sterling silver. The pendant is cast silver, (using the "lost wax" casting method) and the chain links are petina'd silver wire. It was so much fun to make because I love really extreme ridiculous detail, but man, my fingers were sore after soldering each tiny link by hand. :)

I generally just do "conceptual jewelry" that isn't actually meant to be worn. It's just really about enjoying the materials and being over the top. :)

fish I see fish everywhere :)
Mar. 31st, 2006 12:17 pmI found some wood cut outs of sea creatures that were painted really ugly colors (orginally for scrapbooking) and decided with alittle repainting and a hole drilled in the top for hanging that they would make great pendants! I think they turned out really cool.

V for Vendetta purse
Mar. 31st, 2006 04:39 pmSo I haven't made a purse in forever and a day...so I jumped back into it all to do a custom purse for
lilypotter82. I mainly used stencils, but V's mask was free-handed a little bit. It was also my first time using interfacing, to make the purse sturdier.

Sadly I haven't seen the movie yet (going tomorrow!) :P

My dad gave me a Hello Kitty Sewing as an early birthday present, so my mother-in-law gave me a sack of leftover fabric to learn on. I haven't used a sewing machine in ages, so I am really learning all over again.
First I made a little pillow for my son. Next I made a small bag for myself.
They aren't perfect but I am having so much fun!

Binding Off
Mar. 31st, 2006 06:32 pmI'm having one of those moments where I can't let go to details. One of these moments is seeing this gap when I bind off my scarf. It can be easily hidden with the tassels I plan on adding but it'll still bug me!
Does anyone know how to avoid that gap when binding off? If it helps any, I'm working in the round.

Potato's couch.
Mar. 31st, 2006 10:26 pmHi! I'm new here and wanted to show off my latest creation.
I just finished this silly granny couch for my kitty, Potato. It's made with thick foam and is upholstered with heavy couch fabric. The white cushion was sort of last-minute - I just wanted something removable (i.e. washable).

vest/waistcoat help...
Mar. 31st, 2006 10:44 pmI am fairly new to sewing and am looking for a pattern (or at least some direction) to make a vest/waistcoat. I'm looking to do something pretty simple and somewhat fitted. I would prefer it to be something that could be worn both open or buttoned (though at this point I'm not going to be too picky). I wasn't able to locate a great picture to show you what I am looking to make, but I have seen them all over the place in H&M and F21. Has anyone tried a similar project and has some advice to share ? Or have any ideas for websites to checkout?
Thanks in advance... I've been going crazy trying to figure this out...
<3 Theresa
PS - What sites do you go to for clothing inspiration?

Mar. 31st, 2006 11:57 pmI had some time to kill before my theater company's show tonight, so I restructured an enormous old show shirt (die Brigadoon!)to wear in the lighting booth this time 'round:) It turned out tighter than I'd intended, since I used a tank top for a pattern which was made of a significantly stretchier fabric, but I like it:)
