My seven year old nephew has enlisted my help to decorate his new bedroom into a rainforest. I have a few ideas in mind, but I can't seem to get further than basic stencils and decoupage ideas. Unfortunately, I'm no artist so hand painting a mural is out of the question.
I'm open to any and all suggestions because we're both game for going crazy on this project. The more rainforest-y, the better.

I'd like to bring in fallen branches and utilize them somehow. I'm also thinking about blowing up photographs of the sky to make posters that would hang on the ceiling with some fake vines attached to give that canopy feel.

Any DIY ideas, links, etc. would be so appreciated. All I need is a kick of inspiration and some tips and I think I'll be off and running. Thanks in advance.

i made another jewelry stand. here's how i did it:

i took an old picture frame i had, it was a good big wood one (16x20 I think). I painted it with some metallic paint, same as the one i posted before, and then I used a staple gun to staple some black plastic mesh (from the hardware store) to the back of it. Then, also with the staple gun (my new best friend), I attached some dark blue velvety fabric. Then I put some card backing in behind the right hand side (so the thumb tacks would have something to go into), and used thumb tacks to hang the necklaces and bracelets.

I'm really happy with the result, I think it makes my stuff look much more professional.

My satin stich is atrocious!

It won't come out all nice and even and it bunches the fabric in between the stitches...

Anyone have any ideas?
See?! )

ondori needle case

i finished my ondori needle case today!

it is crocheted with a 3.75mm hook and cotton yarn.

i had to adjust the pattern a bit, because following the number of stitches the chart provided me with resulted in an extremely large needle case (one meant for knitting needles, perhaps!) and it was only supposed to measure approximately 19x14 cm. mine measures 19x18 cm, since 14 cm wasn't tall enough for my needles.

+2 photos of the needle case unrolled )

I need to come up with an idea for my english project. We get to do anything we want on the book Angela's Ashes. I want to do something really creative so I was wondering if you guys had any ideas for me.
