Anyone in the Philadelphia Area know where I can find clothing patterns for cheap? I'm a broke college student who is trying to make her halloween costume from scratch, but I don't know where to look! I'm looking for a dress pattern that resembles Alice's from the Disney movie (not American McGee's Alice). And a pattern for a male suit jacket with tails, vest, and pants for my boyfriend's Mad Hatter costume.

p.s. I already checked Karlin's and they're super pricey. 15.00 for a halloween pattern is not what I had in mind.

help is greatly appreciated!

I am going to do a claymation project with my kindergarten-age kids next week. Anyone know of any good books/videos/tutorials for making it? More at my level, I guess, than at theirs, though at theirs would be fabulous!

Google video got me a couple results I can show them, but I haven't really found a good, simple tutorial/book.

Thanks!

hi there!

i'm new, just stumbled across this community yesterday.

i wanted to post some pics of these cards i've started to make, to get some feedback. they are made with vintage 8x10 black and white photographs from the 70s (yay flea markets) and cardstock sewn together. the one posted is one i made for my boyfriend's birthday. the "happy birthday to you" is hidden within the message i wrote.

i'm not sure how to make these more mainstream (i'm attempting to ultimately sell these at a local coffee house), in that, i want the message to be hidden within text, but how do i make the text/greeting more generic? perhaps a repetition of 'happy birthday to you' all over? a longer, nonspecific message paragraph?

anyways, i'm sure none of this makes sense... but onto the pics:

Ok, So a very good friend of mine is having a baby in less than a month and since she'll be born right around Halloween, I thought "wouldn't it be great that the baby can dress up too?"
So I made a set of 3 hats for mom dad and baby.

sorry for text only, but i'm in a pickle.

i'm making a last minute (and late!) wedding gift for someone, and since i've never been married, i need some of you crafty married womens' opinions!

i'm making an 8 page 6x6 album. shortly into this, i realized most photos were 4x6, which leaves very little room for embellishing the pages. also, i don't know how many candids they're going to have, and i doubt they'll want to cut up the original photos.

therefore. for your wedding, would you have preferred a small, really fun and decorated scrapbook where you just had to throw photos in...or would you have liked the same scrapbook with a couple pages set up for photos, but the rest of the pages tailored to commemorating your first year of marriage? i thought it might be fun if there were journaling spots contained on pages i'll make for where they liked to go eat, the average prices of things, what some of their favorite music was, etc. i thought this might be cool, since they already have a "real" wedding album, and also the bride got pregnant about two months after the wedding, so this is the only time they're going to have without a kid to really think about *them.*
