A flannel tie pillow, a little coin wallet, and a covered journal.  (FYI: I would have gotten a better pic of the pillow if my cat hadn't claimed it so Quickly.)

And it only took me a little over a year, because I delayed the text for 8 months!

For the niece )

So, I just found out on friday that, I'm a little bit, not that you could notice (yet), pregnant!!!!! The boy and i were kinda freaked out at first (hit us like a truck, we weren't expecting it), but we are now excited! This now also gives me an excuse to use my blue knifty knitter loom more often. Baby hats galore! I also plan on making an afghan with the knitter as well. So many other baby crafty idea's have been swimming in and out of my head. I plan on getting a hold of plain onesies and baby t-shirt and decorating the crap out of them. One idea i had come up with is putting the phrase "Gamer Spawn" on one shirt or onesie (we're both into Vampire the Masquerade LARP, and he's obsessed with video games and Magic the Gathering). I can't wait!

Does anyone have any onsie and other baby stuff idea's that they could pass our way? We don't want the traditional cutsie idea's. We're both more rock/goth/punk. I'm obsessed with penguins, stars and moons, and music (Korn, MSI, Linkin Park, Otep, Seether and the lot) same with him. We're both into the Vampire LARP, he's into Magic the Gathering and video games and also wolves. I'm getting ready to look at t-shirt hell and get idea's from there.

An interesting alternative to diamond and name necklaces? They are about 3-6 cm irl. Do you think I should go on with these ideas?

My mom's birthday is coming up. I never know what to get her-- or my brother, whose birthday is the same day as hers (as are the birthdays of two close friends, and yet another relative-- all on the same day! Fortunately I already have gifts for the rest of them). They're both such minimalists. I thought maybe my mom would like some simple yet elegant jewelry. Still not sure about my brother...
After much deliberation, I made my mom these earrings:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

So, all set for Mom-- but that brings me to the question part of my post. Do any of you crafty ladies have ideas for a "geeky/science-y" kind of craft? My brother is a mathematician, so anything that's somehow math-related might be neat, as well as anything related to physics, science in general, or classical music. Normally coming up with things to make as gifts is so easy for me, but this time I'm just stuck!

I've been looking for this certain color yarn that I need to finish an afghan. I bought these skeins quite a few years ago from walmart. I've looked on quite a few website with little luck. They yarn is Red Heart Fiesta White. I've seen Baby Fiesta in a few places but it's not the right texture so it won't work. Does anyone have this color that they'd be willing to sell or atleast know where I can get discontinued yarn? I wish I had a picture to show but I don't have a camera on hand.
the color is 6311 White, though.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

The other day, someone posted about recycling magazines to make a photo frame, and today I found this product that I would like to recreate, since we have an overabundance of catalogs in our household, and a need for coasters!

Recycled Magazine Coasters

(Here is a closer view )

I'm looking for some inspiration on how to create something similar; do you think it would require a wood frame to stay square? What adhesive do you think would help make the paper (even though it is glossy) less liquid susceptible? What would you use to roll the paper? Would you leave it round, or smoosh it down to an oval shape, or just make rectangles? Is a circular pattern more realistic for a simple household craft?

Please feel free to direct me if I missed something in the memories, I did search and came up empty handed.

Also, so I'm not just full of questions, here is something fun I found (and may try!) while searching for recycled coasters -

Alternative Coasters (crochet)
