I just got really inspired and whipped this simple tote bag up yesterday. I have done the space man before, but this time I added the hearts and the little starburst and I think that it looks perfect.

if you fall in love in space, and no one is around to hear it... )

Doing some test runs of my purple acid (silk) dye I have and testing "Magik Batik" at the same time yielded this :

Two more pix of similar size )

I think it's really really pretty, but not something I'd wear. However, I do know someone into stuff like this, so I think someone may be surprised with a skirt made from it.

For those of you who've dyed silk, I know that acid dyes are supposed to be hot to "work properly." What kind of not-working-properly are we talking about if they're not as hot as recommended? Not being colorfast, not going as deep as they should in shade, something else?

Napkins! I just finished the last stitch on my first embroidery project... napkins. My stitching is a little sloppy in places but I still think that I did well for a first try.

X-posted to my journal.

After a few months of making and sellings purses and having moderate success, my mom said I should start making laptop bags. So the other night I finally had the time to make one. I used scrap fabric for the outer and flannel for the inner as well as fleece iron on interfacing to give it padding.

I looked through craftster to find tuts and after unsuccessfully finding any, I decided to just wing it. And I am very proud of what I came up with. I will definatly be making more! The only thing I dont like about it is the flap ended up being bigger than I anticipated.

Finished in 1/2 day! Well, I wasted 1/2 day making the wrong pattern, and spent 1/2 day sewing. The fabric is a remanent I got for $0.50! :O

The lining is just a solid brown color fabric. Kinda boring, but I don't have anything else right now. And it's far from perfect, but it's a good start? :P
