[edit: thanks so much!!! after someone said it does add up correctly i went back and figured out that i am stupid and have been passing my slipped stich back over onto the left needle instead of dropping it entirely....OOPS!  yes i am a dumb beginning knitter, lol, thanks, red_jenn!]

>_<  ARGH!  this is an appeal to all you knit-gurus out there...help please???

please tell me if i'm counting right (i think something is wrong with the pattern; if there isnt' something wrong with it maybe something's just wrong with me haha)

when a pattern says...(i'm doing three pattern repeats...)

Row 5 *P 5, (k 1, p 1) twice, k 1, p 5; rep from *.
[each pattern repeat uses 15 stitches and ends up with 15 stitches in it]
Row 6 *K 1, yo, k 3, yo, slip1-k2tog-psso, p 1, k3tog, yo, k 3, yo, k 1; rep from *.
[each repeat uses 14 stitches and ends up with 15...but this is a problem because it gives me an unused stitch for each pattern repeat         and that means i have 3 extra stitches hanging out there at the end of the row!!]]
Row 7 *P 7, k 1, p 7; rep from *.
[ meaning I can't do  row 7, since now the # of stitches is all messed up...]

How can I modify the pattern in row 6 so that it uses 15 stitches and ends up with 15 stitches?  (Unless I'm doing something wrong with my knitting and am using one less stitch than I should be in each repeat...if I've counted wrong, please tell me).

Here is a link to the original pattern, if that's helpful:

i'm sorry this isn't a picture post...i could draw you a picture of my frustration but i don't know how much that would help...

thanks so much...~!

I saw this hoodie i want:

As much as I love the sox and boston, im not paying $55

If I printed out a green B like that on the iron on transfer paper would it be just the same? I have a feeling it would come out like ink, not as vibrant as that.
Any other ways?
Obviously I would get a green sweatshirt.

thanks to whoever posted the link with all the purse patterns
I found this pattern at www.tinyhappy.typepad.com
I call it my fruitstripe bubblegum purse
It is super easy - only 4 pieces for the body
plus 1 for the loop and 1 for an inside pocket
I attached a vintage button for closure

Nothing to spectacular...
I made this tote type purse last night because I was bored. I made two, but the second one did not turn out so hot, so I am giving it to my co-worker.

I need just a little help, I know you crafty gals can help! :)
I remember seeing a soft baby book posted in the community once, each page had the letter of the child's name on it...of course I can't find the entry now. I'd really like to make one for an excellent little boy's first bday.
Thanks so much, in advance, for all your help!

Dew from Rowan, knitted using Jo Sharp DK, in silk.

It's probably a pattern that works best with darker and lighter yarn like cotton. I was thinking of ripping it completely, but decided that I liked the colour, which is closer to a cool oatmeal in real life.

One of my very favorite people just got accepted to pharmacy school!
I made her a celebratory tote bag that we once discussed in passing a long time ago.

Like a lot of crafters here, I've been procrastinating with homework by doing crafts instead. Crafts..and poking around on places like craftster and etsy...and here, of course!

Anyway, I wanted to share some stuff...so here are some of my recent items:

knit help?

sorry for the text only...

i'm procrastinating studying for midterms and i wanted to knit up this very simple scarf. the problem is that i have not knit in awhile and i cannot figure out what it means by "knit into yarnover"

here's a snippet of the pattern:

-k1, [yo, k2tog]
-k1, [k into yo, k1]
-repeat above two rows 4 more times
-work 5 rows garter stitch

i've done the first row, but do i just knit straight through now? there must be a difference between the "k1" and the "k into yo" but i cannot seem to find it out. i've googled, but i'd like to figure this out tonight.

TIA for any help!

I made a sweet DS case. I just got it today, and had no game so I made a case. :D

My mother and I tried to figure out the buttonhole thing on my machine but it didnt work.
So I used a knife, cut a slit and used scissors to open it. Then sewed the ends. :)
