I didn't see anything else about this, going back through recent posts, so I thought I would pop something up. It seems like something some of you might be interested in.

Oxfam are calling for knitters/crocheters to make squares for a giant baby blanket to be presented at Downing Street in September. Every square will represent a mother who has not survived her pregnancy because she could not get access to adequate medical care. They need 250,000 squares.

Anyway, if you are interested in helping out, or you know of any knitters or crocheters who would like to lend a hand, all the details you need are on these two sites.

The curtains in my parents' kitchen are ugly. They were probably bought around when they moved in (ie 25 years ago) and haven't been updated since. They're old, and wearing out. My mother was looking for some new ones to buy a while back, but she wants French style ones (if that's the right name) and we couldn't really find any in the shops. So, I decided to make her some for Mother's Day.

Curtains ahoy! )

Yup. a whole bunch of it. And finally got around to documenting it.

These yarns I’d made recently that fall squarely into the “alt” or "artyarn" category… and were made using reflective yarn, and ribbons, a whole bridesmaid dress, a freakton of garment labels and washing instructions, a faux hermes scarf, faux fur, tulle, and “Stryper: To Hell With The Devil” cassette tape. Woot!

many pics behind the cut. )

the box was created from scratch (wood cut, assembled, covered, etc!) by myself, with the exception of the third eye. The great hall chamber is from Danielewski's House of Leaves.. the other three peepholes, you have to look into to find out what you see. I included the perspective hallway, lit with a miniature LED light that can be turned on/off by a secret compartment in the great hall. The second is my first attempt with polymer clay!! He looks very shocked and angry. I like him :) Enjoy!

Due to thunderstorms that are supposed to continue all day, I'm forced inside to make stuff to keep myself entertained.

I figured I'd update here with some new stuff too.
Check it out!

So, I had a bad day, and despite the fact I had so much more to do, I decided just to do a couple quick projects.

My last post here asked people what they do when they don't have a bunch of crafting stuff, but they do have a lot of...stuff. So, here's a birthday card, made completely of whatever I found around me.

I also made a journal. I disassembled three of my notebooks from school. I'm working on combining my notes from all my classes into larger books like "European History", "Other History Classes The Stupid Department Made Me Take", "Math and Science" and "Other Humanities". I'm a bit of a pack-rat, and I just want to save the information I have right now, but I hate the way a whole bunch of notebooks look on a shelf. This is just the blank pages from the ends of the notebooks - I'm trying to put my notes together better before binding them.
