Mother's Day gift (crafts #14 and 15)
May. 13th, 2008 12:38 pmThe curtains in my parents' kitchen are ugly. They were probably bought around when they moved in (ie 25 years ago) and haven't been updated since. They're old, and wearing out. My mother was looking for some new ones to buy a while back, but she wants French style ones (if that's the right name) and we couldn't really find any in the shops. So, I decided to make her some for Mother's Day.

While I was visiting a few weeks ago, I took some pictures and a buttload of measurements. Hello, ugly curtains. Hello, Cass!

This is what I ended up with. There are two of the orange pieces, and the yellow bit runs along the whole width of the window.

The fabric I picked has a fairly large pattern of fairies and flowers. Very girly, so I hope Dad doesn't mind, haha.

You can't see very well, but the fairies have glitter edging on their skirts and wings :)
I'll be posting the curtains off to Mum today (yes, I know they're late), so I hope she likes them, and I hope they fit the window ok. I hate crafting things that I can't double check the sizes of!
And as a bonus, a sleeping mask. I left my old sleeping mask at the parents' after my visit. After suffering through a few nights of bad sleep without it, I whipped up a new one.

Pukeko!
