Last Christmas I went into Barnes and Noble to spend my lovely gift cards I had received and I picked up a yearly planner (I'm obsessssed with organizers and finding amazing ones) that feature Gil Elvgren pin-ups! I absolutely love the 1940's and pin-ups in general and so I bought it! I carried it around and used it frequently and it was a great little planner to me until about May. I noticed that the pictures were rubbing off onto the pages and I'm far too obsessive compulsive to have DIRTY pages to write on.

I have a new planner now and so I'm left with this old one with brilliant pictures of pin-up girls. I want to decoupage the pictures SOMEWHERE but I don't know where! I have a cheapo Big Lots bed with a flat headboard that's ratty and could use some sprucing up but I don't know if I'd feel comfortable having half-naked all over my bed/I would get tired of it.

Any ideas for WHERE I can use these photos? Photo collage and make wall art? Bed? Coasters? I don't know what would work best. IDEAS? THOUGHTS? I'm so lost as to how to go about using them. I get good ideas but I'm not very good at putting them into motion. What a great crafter I am...

Example of planner photos: 1 and 2

Thanks for any help!

Forever and a day ago I posted some other quilts I'd made and asked for some advice on this one as I was having difficulty figuring out how to best attach the shields. My friend had requested just a batman quilt for his birthday but considering his obsession with both batman and superman and their teamups in comics I knew it had to be both characters. So I have finally finished it, and well I'm pretty pleased with it, I'm not 100% in love with the bats as I just never could get them cut out quite right but my friend loved it and forgave me for it being a birthday gift 4months overdue.  :)

All wrapped up and ready to go.

I'm looking to paint my roller derby helmet, but I have no idea what kind of paint to use. I want it air brushed, but I just can't afford it. If I used acrylic paints, is there a varnish or something I can put over it to protect it?

If it helps, my helmet is a glorified plastic extreme sports helmet.

Thanks!

I had a manager for about 6 weeks recently in one of my jobs, she was an outstanding human being and the most incredible boss you could hope for. I found out it was her last day on her last day, and therefore didn't have a gift prepared for her. But I found out she loveslovesloves The Cure.

So I knitted her Robert Smith (sans pattern but with signature guitar) and sent it to her.

here with the clicking to see mini Fat Bob rock out... )

THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT!

Once upon a time my friends and I wanted to go clubbing; one friend lamented her lack of shirts that show off her tattoo so after a not so quick trip to a thrift store and 20 minutes of sewing I whipped up this bad boy for her: )

Hokay this is a bunch of pics. I'm a long time lurker and first time poster. I haven't seen too many dyed fabric things in this community, but let me tell you, hand dyeing is way more than tie dye! These are just some of the things and color combinations I've made (not necessarily the best things but things I like) and it is a lot of fun so I really recommend it :)

i have this couch that i got in a garage sale for a buck. in great condition but ugly as sin. imagine a picnic table cloth....red and white plaid. i dont like how all the pillows are separate. every time my husband or dog sit on it they make a mess of all the cushions and pillows and i spend more time fixing them than actually sitting on the couch (ok im a bit anal). id like to attach the pillows together and make one big cover for them. does this sound like an idea or a possible disaster? and my husband doesn't like the idea of a couch cover cause he says he will mess that up too. i figured just make the pillows solid red or something to tone it down.

and so this isnt text only.... )
