I want to visit downtown LA soon and I have never been there. Can you guys recommend me some nice fabric store with laces or lolita material. I am also looking for jewelry making supplies too. I will either taking the downtown discovery dash or red line.

Hi everyone,

I've looked through the memories at all the button making info and I myself am confused! I'd like to buy a machine for my personal use, I plan on making buttons with my logo to attach to products, but there is the potential for other things; I have many friends with businesses.

So, I've never owned a machine before and I'm willing to spend a bit. But the reviews of the Badge a Minit seem to be a mixture of good and bad. Some people LOVE it, others hate it.

One thing I know is that I'd like professional quality buttons and nothing that will fall apart with use. And I also know I do get frustrated plus I don't want to invest 400 bucks on the fancier things...so I guess I'm looking for reviews or at least opinions. Badge a Minit specifically, but anything else is appreciated too.

Thanks, and mods, feel free to delete if this is too redundant.

Cross posted to my own journal

I'm in a bookmaking class this semester and our first project is a small pamphlet book. With pictures.  The assignment said to glue them on but I asked if I could paint since I had this snazzy black paper and wanted to paint in white acrylic on it.

PICTURES!

For my friend, who has special love for gas mask, spider, and sloth.

Or she's scared of sloth?  Can't remember ... oh well!  *whistles*

Ok I guess I'll go lie down now.  These shrinky dink sheets gave out more fumes than the ones I used before D:

OK, so it really has nothing to do with the Olympics, but I thought I'd really "whip" something up.  Sort of a sewing sprint instead of a spree.  It was inspired by a combination of the weather forecast, and [info]christhegeek's latest post in [info]sew_hip.  I zipped my blue pants out of my sewing machines in about 3 hours using demonically slippery nylon fabric (because I needed PJ pants to match Tiger's PJ pants, that was the deal she made me make with her).  I figured if I started with the wicked fabric, I'd know what the worst problems could be making these pants.  (For those of you with sergers: ROLL YOUR HEMS ON THE SERGER! Those of you with sewing machines: this is good practice for both your narrow-hem foot and your sailor's vocabulary.)

You will forgive the hammy pictures: I was using the timer on the camera, and had little control over what my kids were doing, and in fact, could not keep my son from popping into the frame most of the time with silly faces.  Aw, he's cute... especially after Tiger told him I was going to post these pictures on the internet.  Needless to say: most of the pictures were not salvageable.

because i'm a hat fiend, i made myself a new hat. i usually prefer structured men's hats, but they're not always feasible or functional since my bicycle is my main form of transportation. i have a couple other hats of this style, but they're all striped and don't really go with much of my clothing.

made from shrunken 100% merino wool sweaters. it took me about 30 minutes, start to finish.

I'm taking a break from the sewing machine (I think I need to invest in a better chair than just a regular plastic computer chair) to post a bumper hand-carved stamp post!

This is a citrus stamp collection I made for a very elaborate private swap over on swap-bot.com, and I'm so happy with the results that I think I just might have to make a set for myself!

A group shot of all the guys (and two girls!):

Peter Pear
Lenny Lemon-Lime
Otis Orange / Annika Apple
Susan Strawberry
Tony Tomato

First you stamp the solid colour, then the character on top.

The great thing about this set is that depending on what colour ink you use, you could stamp an orange, or perhaps a juicy red apple. Or do you prefer shiny green apples? I'm torn because I love granny smith, but I also love fuji and other sweet crisp red apples!

So I took this picture that I had altered with the lovely toys on Photobucket...

And then took and put the image on cloth and made a little baggie for myself...
