A new little purse...
Sep. 28th, 2008 11:57 amI bought this new sewing machine a couple of weeks ago and just started really using it. I used to sew a little bit when I was younger, but nothing really more than home-ec projects. So, I made this purse this morning and am pleased with how it came out for the most part (no pattern, just winging it)...

Sep. 28th, 2008 01:39 pmCan you iron polar fleece? I'm making appliques out of it and I don't want them to melt. Should I just sew them?
Epoxy resin
Sep. 28th, 2008 03:06 pmI know I've seen a tutorial on here before, but I'm not finding it. I have a question, though. I attempted my first pendant. I put a flower in it, but when it was hardened the flower had floated to the top and was not completely covered. How to I prevent items from floating up in the future?
question about glaze + mod podge
Sep. 28th, 2008 07:27 pmhi i tried looking through the memories for an answer, but i wasnt really sure where to look. has anyone ever applied mod podge over something thats already been glazed? ive glued (with mod podge) scraps of paper onto two sheets of paper in a book. one is the sheet of paper surrounding a niche ive made in the book, the other page is the one opposite of the niche. i want to apply glaze over it all for an aged look, but im wondering if i can/should use mod podge too ? ive never glazed over more than one sheet of paper, so im wondering if it'll have a mod-podgey sort of stuck-together effect when i use the glaze, or if i should glaze and still apply mod podge over that? another concern is the paper curling/wrinkling with too much stuff being applied. the niched page is okay because its got half the book glued behind it, but the page opposite it is just a single sheet.
Thanks for the input!
Sep. 28th, 2008 07:51 pmI'm sure nobody remembers me but about a little over a week ago I posted some pictures of earrings and voiced my unease with the manufactured ear wires I was using. Not that I didn't trust the ear wires-- more like it felt like I was cheating using them. Well, after a few of you nice craftgrrls told me that 1)manufactured ear wires are fine and 2)it isn't hard to do it yourself and that my handiwork would look more-- handiworky with them, I decided to try it again at it.

( One more pair under the cut. )
Now all I have to do is learn how to quarry and cut my own stone and smelt and draw my own wire and my stuff will be 100% handmade.*
*joking here.

My First Mini Hat
Sep. 28th, 2008 09:12 pm
I made this hat as part of a Victorian outfit for my girlfriend's Halloween wedding. No glue were used on this project. Instead, I used thread to tack the tulle and the organza flower to the hat form.
( Close Up is Close )
The two yard of dupioni silk that is used for the background is going to become a walking dress.
x-posted a bit. My apologies.

Sep. 28th, 2008 09:19 pmHey everyone,
So i am new to this but i decided to take up jewelry making, and ive realized that i have alot in the past two days so i was thinking about maybe selling some of them. I was just wondering whats the best way to go about this, and i also just want everyone opinion on my pieces. I like them alot, but i dont know if they will sell. So if you guys dont mind, i would love advice on selling and feedback on whether or not you think they will sell. Also if you want, you can tell me how much you would buy them for, i have no idea. Thanks so much!
