If one were to want to make a quilt (a blank one), and then have people write on it and paint/mark their hands on it (hand print?), what would you use??? I've got this idea running through my head to do a quilt like this for a wedding/renewal of vows, but am having trouble figuring out how to go about it. Mainly the issue of well... the ink on your hands once you've printed your hand on the quilt. After all, it wouldn't do for the guests to have their hands stain all over their nice clothes, would it.
So, thoughts, ideas, tips?

My Google-fu is not working.

I want to make some paper dolls with polymer clay heads. Do I have to make the heads, bake them, and glue them to the paper? Or can I shove the paper (card stock) into the heads and bake the whole shebang? (Will baked paper take acrylic paints and/or pigment inks still?)

Hello all!

Like many people, I have decided to make a majority of my holiday gifts this year. I am going to try out the owl tutorial that was posted a few months ago, as I am rather obsessed with owls.

But my questions are these:

I'm going to be making a few things that need different kind of filling and I'm not sure what to use...

1) I'll be making a few door snakes - the ones that you put on the floor so to cut down on drafts. I think I used to use sand in these when I was a kid, but somehow that seems like it could be messy and the sand would get out of fine holes or something.

2) I want to make arm rests for myself to use as I make glass beads (my newest, funnest obsession!). Simple square pads. I was thinking of putting more than just stuffing in those. I thought of small hard fill, like buckwheat or lentils or something.

3) I was wondering what y'all's favorite filler is for eye pillows, besides pure lavender or herbs.

Another factor I'm trying to keep in mind is price, of course. I'd like to know the best options, even if they are expensive, as well as some cheaper alternatives.

Thanks for any advise!!

I am wondering if there is some way (maybe a backing?) that upholstery fabric can be used as rug? Not quilted or rag rug, just a backing to add thickness and stability.

Thank you!

how-to?

So we moved not too long ago, and it's been great because now I have my own craft room/studio space! I still haven't done a whole lot with it, so I'll hopefully be back with more fun pictures in a few weeks, but here it is now if you'd like to see it!

haha.. space^ :) )

you know the rings that are shaped like this and sold plain? (i see them used in crafts a lot, but can't even find a picture now);

(it would be one continuous width - probably pretty thin - in the other dimension [not getting thicker at the part you see atop your finger])

what are they called? where would i find them? i searched michael's site for just "ring", and found nothing of the sort, so i'm thinking craft stores might not be the right place to look for them (or maybe they're just not actual rings, but can be used as rings? i have no idea)...but it sure would be easier if i at least knew what they were called!

thanks!

Hello! I'm trying to do a christmas thing sparing as much materials as possible.
So, I was wondering (I searched the memories but didn't get any useful things) if there is any way to wrap something with several sheets of A4 paper (that would be your standard 27cmx20-something else) in a way that would involve no glue, adhesive tape, or anything at all. Just folded paper.
Are there any tutorials for an origami-esque thing like that?

Thanks for any help! ^_^

So I want to be able to make buttons. I've seen this button maker:

http://www.badgeaminit.com//114starterkit.html

Do any of you have it? I'm looking for one that makes buttons around 1" (1.25 or 1.5 is also fine). What do you think of this machine? Do you have any other suggestions?

I know that most of the uber professional machines are uber expensive :( Are there any not necessarily professional (like making buttons for my family and friends)? I'd like to be able to make some for some coworkers and for the little girl for whom I'm a nanny and maybe some of her friends.

hi grrls,
i guess this question is rather weird, but how do you calculate the shipping costs for your etsy items?
because i've seen that they vary a lot.
for example, different sellers selling (almost) the same item, it ranges from 3 to 5 dollars (to my country). which i think is a lot. considering that they should weigh the same!
so here's my question to experienced etsy sellers: how do you decide on how much shipping you'll charge for your items?
it does seem rather laborious to weigh every single item and then check for each at the post office how much shipping would be to this that and the next country.
thanks in advance for your answers!
