This is my first attempt at book making and I think it came out pretty well!
I used Modge Podge for the glue and it's worked fine but I think there's going to be something better. Any suggestions?
Also, for the cover I used some scrapbooking paper I picked up at JoAnn's. It sort of creased and split a little where I folded it. Obviously, this stuff wasn't meant to be folded. Does anyone have any suggestions for some better, moderately heavy paper that will be good for folding.

Hello crafters,

I saw some rather pricey wood burned animals on wooden panels at an art gallery recently and thought they looked quite easy to make. I work at a Canadian arts and crafts store, and we sell a "beginners" wood burning tool and the nib attachments. I am just wondering if this product is likely to be any good. Should I try to find a more industrial one? Usually I find cheap, 'beginners' aimed items to not be of the highest quality.
If anyone has any advice, even just about the technique, it would be highly appreciated!
Okay thanks.

dear craftsters,

for christmas this year i had some 5" x 7" photo cards printed via snapfish.com.

the front looks like this: )

but the back looks like this: )

i'd like to write on the back of the card, but there are some timestamps and kodak watermarks (unfortunately not visible on the above scanned image) printed on the back. i tried looking for sticker paper online, but could not find 5" x 7" sheets. apart from buying 8.5" x 11" sticker paper and cutting each page to size, does anyone know where i can purchase white stickers that are the appropriate size? any other solutions?

and just so this isn't only an advice post, here is a toy ornament i made for my radio station's christmas tree:

Milky

his name is milky, and this year i 'dressed' him as rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. you might recognize him from blur's "coffee & tv" music video.

Hi, sorry for the text-only post, but I was hoping someone could help me out.

I just pulled out my old sewing machine (it's a little one, a Singer "Tiny Tailor", mostly for mending things), which I thought I'd lost the AC adapter for but found it. And when I turned it on, it worked fine (needle went up and down when I turned the knob like it should), but when I went to thread it and put a new bobbin in, the needle suddenly wouldn't go back down. Is it probably jammed? Now suddenly the lever in front goes up and down just fine, the knob turns ok, and it makes a sound like it's working... but the needle stays in the "up" position. Any ideas of what might be wrong? I haven't put the bobbin back in yet (haven't figured out how), so might that be why? Any help you can send my way would be awesome. I hope I don't have to take it in-- it was working just fine when I first took it out of the box!

I'm probably just doing something horribly wrong, so sorry if I make any experienced sewers cringe. I'm primarily a knitter/crocheter.
