Lots of paper!
Jan. 26th, 2009 01:18 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
At work we have a 60" large format printer but end up doing a lot of work that is considerably smaller then the width of the paper so there is a TON of excess. It's an old printer and wont accept manual feeds so for years my coworkers had been throwing the excess away but there has to be a use for it! I've saved a few hundred feet of perfect paper ranging from a foot to four feet in width, unfortunately, it's all highly glossy and "satin" finish photo paper so it's no good for drawing and water based markers don't stick. Any idea what I could use it for?
Need input..

What would you tell someone that wants to open their very own (first) Etsy shop?
Any bit of info is welcome, especially those regarding time commitment, ease of use, tips on shipping, etc.
Anything.
I'm leaning towards it, but haven't decided one way or the other yet, so....help me learn from your experiences?
Please?
Thanks!

I have a question......

I managed to finish off a completed quilt top that I found at the Salvation Army.

I am THINKING of putting canvas patches on the black spots. But I don't know because of how canvas patches tend to fray. I don't know if it would be okay if I just hand stitched them on, & hope for the best. Or if I should put a seam or some ribbon or something around the edges to hold it. And if it would even be worth it. The blue-er of the squares have tiny moth holes in it that I am hand mending as I go along, but it's looking rough. So I was thinking it would be a punk rock quilt for sure. You know. All rough looking. But I don't know if I should even bother. I mean, would it even look good, and what way should I do it? I ask you, various crafty peoples.....

Okay crafters. I want to make myself some feather earrings! I thought I had almost all the components on hand, but my first attempt wasn't as solid as I would have liked.
What is the name of the circled bit on the photo? I know of a place that has tons of jewelry & beading things, but without the name I am stuck describing a coiled clamp-like implement...

Thanks!

fleecy dragon hats...

Inspired by this post (which in turn came from this and this), I made hats with bunny ears for some eight and nine year old girls.
Of course, that wasn't terribly boy friendly, so I ended up making a dragon hat for their 6 year old brother.
( Modelled by my daughter, who has already demanded one of these to go with her bunny hats )
It's all hand-sewn and took about 3 hrs to make (the bunny ones take me just under 2 hours) but now I've got a better idea of what to do next time, it should be a breeze. I've got to make one for a baby next, heeee!!!

Hiya!
This is my first crafty post – I spent all yesterday making cards, and wanted to share them…they’re not spectacular, but I really enjoyed making them!
I hope I've done everything right :-/

Even though I totally blew my diet today by overdoing it on the cheesecake bars I had stashed in my desk at work, I did manage to crank out a Weight Watchers points book tonight! Check it!
