I was supposed to spend the day cleaning and packing up for tomorrow's trip to Vegas (yay!), but of course spend the day crafting instead.

I've always had a real fascination with book binding. While I'm not a big fan of regular novel reading (sometimes I wish I was), I am a big fan of understanding how they're physically put together. I'm in no means about to invest in some big book-binding machinery, but I am finding even the simple DIY journal binding to be very addicting. Anyhoot, it's a little rough because I was more excited about testing it out with the materials I had on hand than getting it perfect... but here are the results:

It's my first attempt, and I hope to make more... with different fabrics, different types of paper, etc. But I'm pretty proud of my first one! What do you guys think? :)

xoxo,
Steppie

P.S. Anyone try Provo Craft's new Yudu? I just pre-ordered one!

Hi everyone. This is one thing I havn't seen posted here so I thought I'd share. Been candle making for maybe 8 years now...took a little break for a few years while away at school but have got back into it again. I use everything from store bought moulds to yogurt containers and as many as 4 wicks per candle. Enjoy

And here's a quilt front I put together this week as well to use up some of my sewing scraps (very good at getting the quilt fronts and backs made but never actually quilting the 2 pieces together...so I've gotta get on top of quilting the 4 quilts I have sitting around :S):

hello fellow crafters! recently on vacation, i bought several craft bird's nests from Michael's, and used them for my nest headbands:

Photobucket

however i only bought a few of them, and now that i am back at home and not near a Michael's (or any other large craft store) i don't know where to find more! i've not had much luck online, most of the nests i'm finding are made of straw and i really want to find some made of darker twigs, like the one in the photo. so here's where i need your help! i'm looking for:

bird's nests, approximately 2", darkish color, made of twigs (not straw). i'd like to buy them in bulk/cheap/wholesale online, or as cheap as i can get them without an actual wholesale license. midwest design imports has a great selection of birds/nests/feathers, but you need a wholesale/business license to buy from them D;. So, if anyone could point me in the direction of a website that carries them or something like it, i'd be ever so grateful!

TY in advance!

since i left it up to my husband to decide when we have children. [and of course now my hormones and i are already tired of waiting.] i decided that making baby stuff would be the best way to keep both of us sane. [mostly me occupied and out of his hair.]

and you're about to find out that we're going to have a nerd for a baby:

there're only two so far. but i think i'm on the right track and the pattern's getting easier to make. so look out for more.

I was asked to make a bunch of unscented Microwavable Neck Pillows. But, I have a few questions.

Which is better - Flax seed or White rice?
Which Fabric is better - Cotton, Flannel or Fleece?

Thanks!

This is probably a loaded question- but what are your favorite things to make with shrinky dinks?

I'm trying to think of some things I could make OUTSIDE of the typical jewelry, pendant, keychain type stuff, but my mind is going blank. All things considered, the possibilities should be endless but I can't think of many ideas beyond the making jewelry stuff.
