egg dying

I want to do some egg coloring later and I have McCormick food and egg dye, but I would like to hear from others that have used it. The only directions on the box and that I can find online say to use hardboiled eggs, but I prefer my eggs to be blown (and will do some boiled too, but I like to save my decorated eggs.) Is there any issues with this with this dye, is it just tougher cause initally the water is boiled. Does this mix have to stay warm to be effective?

Anything else I might not be thinking of. I should be able to find my wire dipper, if I not I have plenty of wire to make some.

Thankies :)
