Craft Break FAIL
May. 7th, 2009 03:08 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
It's the week before finals for me, I've got one exam tomorrow, and I've been cramming for days. I decided to take a study break oh, fifteen minutes ago and play with some polymer clay. The gods of diligent studying promptly punished me.
I was sitting at my craft table in the sun, merrily smooshing and rolling and pinching and squishing clay into form when it came time to cut a log of clay. I took out my handy-dandy paint-scraper blade (seen here; much cheaper than a polymer-clay specific blade, though not so flexible), and hacked into the surprisingly-resistant log. It was only when the nerves in my fingertips began to scream that I realized I had manhandled the dull edge of the blade through the clay by pushing down, with my two index fingers, on the sharp edge.

Go go Batman Band-Aids!
D'oh.
( For your continued amusement, a recent chain mail piece. )
Back to studying.

lavinia
""She has no tongue to call nor hands to wash, and so let’s leave her to silent walks.”
[ingredients: sculpey, acrylic paint, synthetic hair, lots more acrylic paint, cheesecloth, bits of wire, morbidity, sympathy]
lavinia was created for a challenge, the challenge of course being shakespeare. having just done (dead)juliet and (dead)ophelia i was still on a bit of a morbid bent. and for utterly unrelated and personal reasons, i felt i had to create this little bit of tragedy. i know she isn't to everyone's taste, but she was therapeutic to make and i'm awfully proud of the end result.

*shyly peeks out from hiding*
..long-time lurker, first time poster here (with an all text entry, I'm afraid!)
Having been admiring all your beautiful work (from a distance! ) for a fair while now, I finally plucked up the courage to say hello! :-)
...and I was wondering whether you lovely people could help me, please...
You see, I've hunted through the internet for resources, as well as reading through the memories section of the community, hunting down information about glue that is best used for jewellery making... but really, I would like some personal experiences & input, which is where y'all come in! :-D
If anyone would be so kind as to share please, I would like to know:
What is your preference of glue for jewellery-making?
( (specifics, etc under the cut) :-) )
