Hi all! I recently joined this community and thought I'd share the felt board I made my friend's son. ( Pirates and dinos oh my! 4 pics )

handpainted pillows

Some pillows painted with fabric dye (used like watercolor) and a black fabric marker. I used an old book with pictures of birds in it to reference the drawings.

I sketched the image first and then went over it with a watercolor brush dipped in fabric dye. I used red, blue and yellow, mixing blue and yellow to make green and red and blue for the purple so I wouldn't have to buy extra colors, adding a little bit of dye to an ounce of water in a dixie cup. I used plain muslin for the ground and the color stayed pretty well. I used a thicker fabric, thinking I would get better results. But it tends to bleed when you wet it.

A close friend is expecting her first baby and has decided on a name, and I'd love to make something personalised for her for after the baby's born (I was thinking maybe a quilt or cushion or picture - or something else?).

Greetings! I'm one of the mods from the charity community gulf_aid_now. Like the help_haiti  effort from a few months back, our community is raising money by allowing LJ users to auction off their talents (such as writing, drawing, sewing, beading, etc.) and all money generated from auctions is donated to help the people, animals, and environment suffering because of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

I'm an occasional browser of this community, and I'm always amazed by lovely projects you ladies share. I wanted to offer you a chance to use your fabulous talents to create beautiful crafts while at the same time giving aid to a great cause.

I want to make a solar system mobile to hang over my new arrival's cot. I need a way of making sponge/fabricy spheres. As obviously planets are all different sizes. ANY ideas or clues please respond. I am open to using different materials as I havent got any certain ideas as of yet.

Crafts from back in the day

Hey everyone! I've watched this community FOREVER but never really posted so today I decided to stop being so stalker-y and put something up :)
Anyway, a week or so ago I was looking through my material to see what I could make a laptop bag out of when I came upon a messenger bag I made but never quite finished in high school..
