I thought this might be interesting for people as I have only seen this stitch in one book, I would love to know if anyone else knows it or has seen it by another name.

I am beginning a mixed media page for [livejournal.com profile] thousandcats  art/journal/story prompt in which I wanted a bright sunny picture.

 Annaliese Fritts

I googled antique picture frames and found this painting by Anneliese Fritts named Meadow for my inspiration

My finished size is 1 and 3/4 inches by 1 and  ½ inches.

I began by painting a piece of vilene with watercolour paint

 grass

I have now started the Linked French Knots for the undergrowth with a single strand of stranded cotton.

This is a sample I did for a class I taught to give you a clearer idea of this stitch

I have put this post on my blog with instructions if you would like to give it a try.

I made my nearly 5 year old twin daughters a pair of flower crowns using fabric covered floral wire and white floral tape to attach smallish bunches of artificial flowers and leaves.

They came out completely adorable (too bad I didn't get pictures!), but (here's the problem) after just a couple of hours, the flower bunches began to fall off the crown. I had a least 2 inches of the flower stem bunch taped to the wire and individually taped each bunch. Anybody have a better recommendation for attaching the flower bunches to a wire crown? It was some work and we are all disappointed they didn't last longer. And of course they want new ones. =) If I'm going to make them new ones I want them to take a beating and keep on ticking!

Thanks!

I have been watching this community for a while and the things people post here are so cute, lovely, or even amazing. It's pushed me to start crafting things! Even though it isn't that big, that great, or even that much, I'm just starting. :')

Just finished yesterday. This is the card for my winning bidder [personal profile] fushiforever at [livejournal.com profile] gulf_aid_now.

Flowers and leaves are made from paper strips. The background looks more green than in the pictures.

If another round of auction is up, I think I love to offer again.
