I've taken 2 semesters of metal smithing for jewelery. It was an art requirement for my major (Biology). I loved the class so much that I took it again. Anyway...here are a few pieces that I made:

This was my final project. My professor allowed me to deviate from the rest of the class for my final project. I made the square beads out of 20g sterling silver sheet metal. I put them in a rolling mill with a dot print, cut the sheet into squares, soldered them together to make what looked like an ice cream sandwich, filed the edges down and rounded them off, then I oxidized the beads and shined them so that the dots were bright silver, I then drilled holes. The beads are hollow. After the class, I gave the bracelet (along with matching earrings) to my mom for mother's day. I got an A :D

For this assignment, we had to draw out a design and saw the design out of the sheet metal. Again, I used 20g sterling. In this lesson we also learned how to make bails, bezels, and set cabachons using a bezel knocker/burnisher. Sterling and grey moonstone.

This was my first attempt at the pendant. Please forgive the scratches, I wear it a lot! I did buff it to a scratch-free satin finish in the class. Blue topaz cabachon, freshwater pearls, onyx, swarovski crystal
