e string ring
Oct. 26th, 2003 10:18 amwhat to do with all of those broken guitar strings?

pretty simple and needs little explanation. remove the broken string from the bridge and measure how round you'd like the ring. make the first loop around and wrap the wire a time or two just below that brass bit. now continue looping around and around as many times as you'd like, leaving enough string to wrap around all of the bands in different directions and twists at the end to hold it all together.
it wouldn't be impossible with the smallest e string to thread seed beads on, but i think it would make the piece too cluttered. it's interesting also, if you believe in such things, to sort of weave into the ring all of the chords and songs that came from it during its use in the instrument, similar to love or binding spell.
for the record, this string in particualr is an elixer medium (for acoustic) e-1st
