Hi hello again! As promised, here are pictures of the finished crocheted orange purse I made. I finished it yesterday after much frustration. So first let's go over the history, shall we? First, I made a grid and wrote a pattern. Then I worked it and it looked all funky and the pattern was wrong. I gave up, [livejournal.com profile] bjorkdoll (who this purse is very much inspired by) said to go at it again, so I did. I re-wrote the pattern, asked the mod to remove the old pattern, and I worked it again. Came across the realization that one line of the pattern was STILL wrong and I had messed up in the middle, unravelled hours of work, went at it again. Then finally worked the strap, ran out of green yarn so had to do the stripes differently from what I wanted. Stitched it all together; and I did my SCs really tight so my hand was hurtin' so badly after weaving in all those ends.. but here is the uh, fruit of my labor, or something. =)

MAIN PURSE BODY

NOTES:
1. when changing colors, use the carry-along method to bring yellow yarn across each row.
2. every other row is a right side. for example, i started with ROW 1 = wrong, ROW 2 = right, ROW 3 = wrong, ROW 4 = right.
3. carry the yarn along the WRONG side so it is not visible.
4. after finishing the first side of the bag (when you are just doing rows of yellow and orange alone), be sure to leave a VERY LONG TAIL when cutting the orange and green yarns. you will be using the long tail to slip-stitch through the fabric to create a chain-border of green around the leaves and a chain-border of orange around the orange.
5. when pattern says "front loops only" and "back loops only", this is so the fabric will fold where needed to form the two sides and bottom of the purse.

BORDER

this is why you either left a realllly long tail.

stick your hook through the fabric from the right side (so that it's poking out at the wrong side) somewhere along the edge of the green leaf/step (preferably, near where you ended the last green stitch). pull a loop through and slip stitch a border around the leaf and stem.

repeat this for the orange border.

============================================================

STRAP
ch 7.
row 1-25: sc across in yellow (6 sc), ch 1 & turn
row 26-100: sc aross in color of your choice (yellow, orange, green, striped, whatever), ch 1 & turn.
row 101-125: sc across in yellow, ch 1 & turn. on last row, finish and fasten off.

NOTE; the strap pattern is basic. you can do whatever you want with it. you can make it longer, shorter, do it all in orange, yellow, striped, etc.. :)

============================================================

now all you have to do is stitch the strap to the purse and weave in your ends & you're set!

happy halloween everyone, btw :)
