Record party platter
Nov. 4th, 2003 05:58 pmMy mom and I did a craft fair last weekend and did REALLY well with record bits - besides bowls we've made boxes, vases, birdfeeders...
Anyways! We were trying out some new ideas for our next craft fair, and came up with a 2 tiered party platter (our take on one of these, although this is a 3 tier)

First we took a record, and heated it till quite soft, so we could cut it into a rectangle. Then we reheated it and bent in the sides slightly to make a stand. We bought a piece of 5/16 continuous thread rod (does anyone know the proper name for it?) and nuts to match (2 per record, so in this case, 6). We cut the rod in half, as it is quite long, then threaded on a nut, the base, a nut, then a nut, a bowl, a nut, and then the last nuts and bowl. We topped it with a wingnut. I'm sorry the pictures are ass, my camera sucks. I hope you all understand what I've done.
Bring on the chips and nuts, baby!
