i bought a sewing machine yesterday (see my craftgrrl post here). i just wanted to share the first thing i made with it, a bermuda bag cover. i traced the outline of the original bag that was on it and sort of went from there. a lot of my stitching is messed up cuz i didn't have pins, so when i was making a hem around it it kind of went wonky, but i'm pretty satisfied being that it's the first thing i ever made on a sewing machine unassisted. i love the 4-step buttonhole feature my machine has! i would have been totally lost and not knowing how to make a buttonhole without it.

the best part is that the bermuda bag is apparently the exact size of a flat quarter! i totally lucked out. i think i'm going to make some more bag covers before i try to tackle the skirt and dress projects i have in mind.

(and yes, it is 4 am.)
