More record bits
Nov. 5th, 2003 02:59 amSomeone asked for pics of some of the other record things we've made, so here you go.

This is a bird feeder. We just set the pliable record into a pie plate (so it's not very deep), then used our Dremel to drill holes (after it was cool). We cut a small piece of cork to fill the center hole, and threaded gimp to hang it with (just because the orange and black looked so cool together).

This is a box - my personal favourite. Instead of draping the record over a bowl, we just molded it around a salt box (any box will work) after taking it out of the oven, then holding it till it cooled (the ends are just bent in).

This is another container.. While it was hot, my mom gathered it up and put an elastic on it and left it to cool, leaving this neat bunched effect. We tied a ribbon on for accent

This is another container - this one looks like a rose. My mom cut the record (while it was hot, otherwise it cracks), then molded it over a jar, so some of the cut pieces are overlapping. I will try to get better pics of this one, because this doesn't really do it justice.

REALLY blurry, sorry. Here we just rolled a record around a small cheap vase (from the thrift store), and then pressed it down on the table so as to smush the bottom so it will stand.
We've also made a picture frame, but it sold before the craft fair even started, so y'all will have to wait until we make another one to take pics. We're also working on making knick-knack shelves and mail holders, stay tuned!
