craft gift for a friend

my friend has said that she wants to start a crafty hobby. we've already weeded a out a couple things: knitting, crocheting, quilting, calligraphy (sp?) painting. any other ideas? what some things you ladies like to do? what's not to hard for a beginner?

also, what are some things i should include in the gift? for example, if i where to get her stuff for scapbooking (which she also weeded out) i could get her some pens, markers, stickers, specialty papers, little charms and such.

and i just thought of something. maybe she'd be interested in collaging. besides the items i mentioned above, what other stuff (besides glue and paint)could i include?
