adhesive type questions

Does anybody know of a good way to attatch animal bones (heavy ones, but hollow) to wood? I have an art project, at least that's what we'll call it, that I need to do this for. I tried using hot glue, mounds of it, but it broke off. I can't use nails because it will just break the bones. I need a glue of some sort. Suggestons?
