How to make a Guitar Strap
Dec. 1st, 2003 05:22 pmI made a guitar strap for my friend's birthday this week. I had an old cheap one that I didn't want anymore so I cut the fake leather parts that attach to the guitar and the adjustable plastic piece off. Using the old strap as a guide for the width and length I cut out a piece of marine vinyl and another fabric to line the back of the vinyl with. I used stitch witchery (because my sewing machine didn't want to go through it) to adhere the red and white fabric on the back of the vinyl. I hand sewed the black fake leather pieces back on. When you take apart an old strap to do this pay a lot of attention to the way it was constructed and you wont have a problem putting it back together. You might even want to take photos with your digital camera so you can remember how to put it back together again.
The person I made it for wanted it to say 'cunt' so I just used regular glittery iron letters from the fabric store. Follow the directions on the back of the package.
