paint off brushes?

hello all ya creative grrls!

a question for you:

how can i get off the dried paint off my brushes? some of the brushes have paint since many years that i've never bothered to clean...but now i think i might take them in use again, that is, if i can get off that paint that has been there for a few years...it's both acrylic and oil. i really hope someone has the answer to this problem! it would be greatly appreciated.
