Candy Cane Soap

I'm crafting candy cane shaped and scented soap for Christmas and I was originally just going to dye the glycerine red but then I thought that it would be cool to leave it clear and suspend candy cane pieces it in. Has anyone tried this (suspending candy) before? Would it not work? Forgive me if this is a really stupid question but I thought it would be a good idea to ask before I ruined a bunch of or gave people malformed soap.
