Hullo everyone! I'm new, but a longtime lurker =) I am still in awe of ALL of your craftiness - amazing!

In the spirit of the holidays (and NOT studying for finals, when we should be), my roommate & I made chocolate mice. They're too cute to eat!

I love white chocolate - mmmm!

Need:
- maraschino cherries - with stems
- white chocolate - melted for dipping
- hershey's kisses
- sliced almonds - for ears (cut the almonds in half so they're flat on one end)

1. melt bottom of a Kiss - ( I had it over a tealight candle for about 3-4 seconds)
2. stick the bottom of the kiss on the side of a cherry (stem up)
3. it helps to stick them in the freezer for a zap of cold
4. dip kiss-cherry in white chocolate - wait till set.
5. dip once more - before it sets this time, attach the sliced almonds for ears
6. wait til set - pipe on milk chocolate for eyes
7. ooh & ahh over your creation
8. share the love!

** melting the chocolate to the right consistency can be a pain if you're using a white chocolate with low cocoa butter ratio (ie Nestle tollhouse, etc). I used Ghirardelli chocolate -- and even then, had to add a little vegetable oil to thin it a bit.

If you have a double-boiler to do the melting, you'll save yourself a lot of trouble, cuz it'll be perfect =)
