Brittle question

Do any of you crafty folks know if it's normal for brittle to get all chewey after you've freshly made it?
It breaks fine but after you've been chewing on it, it gets gummy.
It's been a while since I made any and I added a bit of rum along with the butter at the end and I'm afraid that somehow messed things up.

So main question, should I just wait or should I just make up another batch?
