Crazy Crayons
Dec. 14th, 2003 06:04 pmThis is my first try at homemade Christmas presents. My two best friends are going to be elementary school teachers, so I made them some of these crazy crayons.

To make these, peel the paper off some old crayons (or use a brand new box of Crayola 96 colors like I did!) Using a sharp, non-serrated knife, chop them up into pieces about as big as your fingernail. You don't want them really small- they will crumble, and believe me, it's a mess.
Now you take some nonstick muffin pans, the kind for tiny muffins. Place your crayon pieces in there in whatever color combinations you want. The metallic ones look really cool. Fill them up, because they get a lot smaller when you cook them. Put them in the oven at 200 F for about 15-20 minutes, or until all the chunks melt. Take them out, let them cool a bit and then put them in the freezer- they will shrink a bit and pop right out.
