i am making my boyfriend's extended family marble magnets that spell out the names of everyone in each family group and putting them in a box with the family name on the outside. (ie his uncle steve, aunt terry, and their son kyle, would all go in a box decorated to say 'mayans'). i couldn't figure out good boxes to do this with so instead i bought brown paper mache christmas tree shaped boxes, spray painted the top green, and gluegunned the shit out of them to make them look gaudy yet slightly tasteful.

this is for a huge family with 5 names! the parents go in the little box and the kids names in the big one. the little is glued on top of the big.


this is what it looks like when you open them. the marbles are fun-tacked inside.





this is a scarf i made myself, it looks better in real life
i made it with a q hook and some fancy yarn called fantastic. it took 2 balls. i did hdc, but did the scarf lengthwise.


there is one more fringe thingy but it somehow didn't get in the pic, i guess it fell behind the scarf





i used two yarns at once for this one.. plain grey lionbrand jiffy yarn and then the blue version of this yarn (the name is dali i dunno the brand, it as from a little yarn shop) cuz its the kind that's hard to use alone, and doesn't look good that way anyways.
i used a p hook and hdc again. in fact i always use hdc, its my fav.
i am nervous about if she will like it or not.

for my little cousin sarah to match the scarf i made her that i posted yesterday or the day before.
the grey is wool-ease thick and quick and the colored stuff is also woolease thick and quick in catskills.
i made the grey rectangle with a q hook and then folded it over and used the rainbow stuff to stitch up the sides, and also wrapped it around the brim to be cute. i was going to put pom poms on the corners but i thought it'd be a bit much with the craziness of the scarf. so i just left the two strings.

i am going to line it with fleece cuz otherwise it won't keep anyone's head warm.
