Skirt Patterns

Can someone recommend a good BASIC pattern for a simple straight mid-length skirt with a slit? I'm still learning how to sew and quite frankly, I'm tired (more like bored) of sewing pillows or books. I picked up three yards of fabric today... for a buck a yard and I want to make a skirt out of it. That should be enough, right?? The fabric is 50% Rayon, 50% Polyester if that matters. As you can tell, I'm totally clueless.

Any tips would be appreciated.
