krappy keds

I have inherited a brand-spanking-new pair of white canvas Keds.

They're awful.

I'm appealing to all you punk-rock girlies out there to help me with my dilemma.
I'm poor and I would love to wear a new pair of shoes, but these are so... blindingly white. And old-lady.

I've thought about attacking them with a bedazzler and a marker, but that's so... expected. Anyone have any ideas? I'm up for anything... (I own everything to screenprint, but my screen's rather big, and these are rather small, so that's probably a no go... perhaps iron-ons, sewing, stencils... decoupage?!)
