Dorm-Room Decor
Jan. 9th, 2004 02:19 amThe bed curtain I'd planned turned out *amazing*. The hanging lamp I was hoping to work into things finished it off perfectly. Some random fabric I'd bought and an old mini-tree Christmas garland ended up being a wonderful wall-covering... *and* I also go to decorate my other walls in my pin-up girls because my roommate is AWESOME and she brought pin-up girls to decorate her side of the room as well!!!
Oh also, I decided to leave those apothecary jars empty (for the time-being) because the color of the glass matches everything else on my dresser and in my room and the emptiness adds some much-needed simplicity to all the decor.
...I still need a duvet, but one trip to the fabric store this weekend will clear that right up. (btw, thanks for yr help on the diminsions of a twin-sized bed everybody) :D
I love it when a good plan comes together.

Bed Curtain
Just 10 yards of tulle gathered in half, and then in half again. Stapled to the ceiling in the middle with a staple gun, the clipped on the ends to make 4 sections instead of leaving 2 loops ;)

Hanging Lamp
Picked up that and the pillows at one of those random Asian/South-East Asian gift shops. Hung the lamp with some of that pretty silver star-rope that you use to wrap presents (triple-layered so it doesn't fall) and stapled the rope to the ceiling.

Wall Curtain
Stapled fabric directly to the wall in gathers. Stapled up a star-garland left over from an old mini-Christmas tree. A girl and her staple-gun. It's a beautiful thing.

Pin-Up Decor
Modern pin-ups over our closet. Retro pin-up postcards all over one wall. *And* my roommate even rocks some pin-up art from her own collection and has a Marilyn calender!
Above the closet door...

sorry this pic is soooo big, but you lose all the detail if it gets *any* smaller than this.

My roomie's pin-up wall!

Dresser-Tops
What I did with those jars, and just for fun, my roomie's dresser ;)
