Jan. 12th, 2004 03:39 pmHere's the instructions for the WRIST WARMERS. I don't know how to explain crocheting too well, so if anyone can make this more clear, please feel free.
First, chain a long enough chain to wrap around your forearm. I did 27, but it's big on me. Make into a circle using a slip stitch, then double crochet all the way around (to set up a double crochet, chain 3 after the slip stitch). I crocheted 10 rows of double. (Crocheting in a circle: first go around one way, join up with the beginning of the row, chain 3, then back around the other way. Alternating directions is important so the seam is straight.) You can put stripes in anywhere, the grey stripe on mine is on the 5th row. When you want to insert the thumb hole, crochet around until you get to the thumb, start chaining, I think I did 7 or so, put through between thumb and index, and find where it would be comfortable to reattach. Write down what you do here so you can duplicate on the other warmer. Reattach on the other side of the thumb. You should have a big wrist cuff with a single strand of chains between the thumb and index. Work back up 2 stitches of the thumb chain part (I just single cr. right back up), and continue the rest of your row. ONE ROW TO GO! Start your next row as usual, but when you get to the thumb hole part, crochet 2 stitches together. This creates a tapering thing that hugs your hand a little tighter. I hope this makes sense. When I make some for my boyfriend, I'll take some pictures.
