Sewing machine books?

Hi there, I recently was given my mom's old sewing machine. It is REALLY nice... I think. Of course, I don't know yet, because I can't figure out how to work it. I've asked 4 different avid seamstress' and they stare at it as if it were the weirdest thing for a number of reasons. I'm pretty much useless when it comes to asking questions about how to get it to work right, because I don't even know the terminology, so... taking baby steps.

Does anyone know where I could get a book on how to use a particular make of a sewing machine? Are there any books you'd reckomend?
