Ideas anyone?

Ok. I did something stupid and now I need to fix it. I decided to rip the wallpaper down that was in my bathroom...only it didn't come off as easy as I had hoped. Instead of steaming it off since that thought seemed to have skipped my mind until it was too late, instead I spackled over the areas that needed to be, sanded, and painted.
D'oh! Big fat mistake. It looks like hell. Lines, lines, wallpaper lines.
So......question. I was thinking about placing ribbon over the lines. Will regular ribbon work? Since it is in the bathroom, will moisture bleed the color out? And what kind of adhesive should be used?
