Nothing terribly new, but if you missed it the first time around, I followed [livejournal.com profile] xsaltyx's instructions and made a fleece boa! I love it, love it, love it!

I'm especially proud of it because, even though it's super easy, I've never made a fabric craft before. I don't have a sewing machine, so I hand stitched it, and it still only took me a few hours and it worked beautifully. I still can't believe I made it.

It's black, so it doesn't photograph very well, but here's a picture of how happy I am wearing it.

I want to thank you all for your inspiration. I didn't really know that I was crafty until recently. You see, I was raised mormon, and they do a lot of crafting, but it's all very cute and proper and just not my style. Toll painting cute little happy homesteader mamas and nativity scenes and scripture verse cross stitch, stuff like that. It's not awful, just definitely not my style.

The problem is, those were the crafts that I was exposed to at a young age, and that's the perception of "crafty" that I had! Sometimes it takes constant exposure like what I see here to re-imprint my brain with the fact that being crafty can mean whatever you want it to mean!

You guys are so stylish, fun, adventurous and creative. I think being crafty is really good for the brain— it helps you think about things creatively and solve unusual problems. I am beginning to embrace my crafty side, and I'm so pleased with what I'm finding in there. My friends say to me, "You're so crafty!," and I can still hardly believe they're talking about me. Thank you all for helping me realise how special this stuff can be. Okay, I'm going to stop now before I get weepy. ;)
