Felt!

Hello Crafties,

I've been wondering this for a while -- I know how to hand-felt the 'regular' way, by rolling layers of roaving in hot water in a rolled up bamboo shade, & how to dry-felt little dolls & etc, but...

How do you felt 'lace'? I don't know exactly how to explain, but I was at American Rag (on La Brea here in Los Angeles) and saw this jacket of mauve felted wool that had somehow been made to look like lace. The only thing I've found that looks like it is;

This Shawl

and

The lace on this skirt

So, any ideas?
