Arg - Crafts gone awry (And LJ, too!)
Jan. 27th, 2004 11:27 pmI was trying to be sweet and make a cute valentine's day present, but it didn't work out at all.
I had these red glass cubes from the dollar store that I had planned to etch the sides of and turn into 'grown up building blocks.' (My fiance is a geek, he'd appreciate it.)
Unfortunately, they're from the dollar store, and the red is PAINTED ON! It peeled off with the masking tape. This along with the etching not being too visible without a light background or actual lighting behind it... I may just scrap the project.
My only alternative right now would possibly be to build some sort of lit display to put them in - but then I could only etch one side of each cube (the lighting would push the opposite side through and muddle which letter was supposed to show.)
*sigh*
(Sorry about reposting/deleting, LJ is lagging and I thought the first one didn't post.)
