My first crocheted- -ehrm...thing. It started off as a square to learn single-stitch, and ended up something different. I learned to crochet (sorta) 2 nights ago. I love the independence! I can now imagine how those funky hats are made... this was a great learning experience, and I wasn't afraid to experiment.

[Cut, inside are pictures and more explanation, though nothing too comprehensive.]

I was practicing single stitch, decided to fold over the square and my friend helped me make a seam, and then started randomly stitching along the "thumb"- it turned out way better than expected. I'm so happy I chose to learn how to crochet, it seems that there's a lot more architectural control, so to speak. Reminds me of my fascination with computers, I love digging in and plumbing around in there. This is sorta the same, except with stitching- and I'm not afraid of permanently messing up my computer! With knitting, I felt like I wouldn't've been able to experiment so early, since you have to concentrate on a whole row instead of just individual loops. Specs: I think I was using "worsted weight" something, and a G/4.00 MM hook.

The random stitching around the thumb, which I'd started off hoping would randomly develop into a compartment for the finger, turned into a pretty flower-like shape!

*Sorry for random pictures, I literally scanned my hand! Thank you, HP all-in-one. (I've tried scanning my face, that's equally groovy.)*
