Here's prototype #002 of the photobook. I did a really half-assed job on this one, and I didn't even print the rest of the photographs correctly. Ha ha! I had some extra 4 x 6 glossy pages that I wanted to test print on. The quality is, okay.. well good actually, but folding the page causes it to "break" (as my friend Quang put it in terms forme), where the glossy part cracks and you're left with paper.

Anyway, I made this tiny version just to see if plain ol' Elmer's White Glue would hold. I folded the pages in half french fold with the edges of the page against as the spine. I then used clips (actually, clothes hangers, lol) to hold the pages tightly together and used a foam brush to generously apply glue along the spine. I let it sit to dry and set while I showered/ate breakfast/etc. this morning and then I picked it up and put scotch tape along the spine (since I don't have cloth tape, nor would I waste it on this mini test book).

The glue is actually holding up pretty well, except on the second fold page (actually, the first if you don't count the cover) in which part of it came unglued -- it's still attached to the spine, however the page lifts up. Also, I can see the color underneath the glossy part of the paper has faded a bit where glue seeped in. Maybe it's just the paper, but I'm not sure.

the page layout -- if you look closely at the spine, you can see faded discoloration

how the pages should open

the part that came un-glued that lifts up
