craftgrrl | On the gift posts, and updated user info.

I have updated the User Info. The section on posting policies has been added to. I do agree with

murdercitygrrrl and the rest of the posters in that string that we are getting so many "what should I get for my (insert human of interest here)" posts that it's getting out of hand. There is a faq with 1683 entries, and it's getting bigger all the time. With 4201 members and growing, we just can't keep up with the large influx of what should I make them posts.

There is a community called

crafty_gifts that is devoted to just that, and our memories/faq section has so many ideas. I can say with much confidence that any post that asks what to make will get the same ideas that are in the faq for the most part.

We are not ready to delete these posts, yet, but it is under serious consideration. I know people want to make good gifts, and but don't know where to start, but most of these posts are so general that we can't really help very much.

I, for one, prefer to see show off posts of what people made, or read the tutorials that people post to our community. I think those kind of posts are fantastic resources, and good sources of inspiration. I also like seeing questions on specific things because it allows me to learn more about specific crafts. I know I can't be the only one.

I do want eveyone's input, and ideas about this, so please post below with how you feel.
