A dollar buys you more than a phone call!
Feb. 4th, 2004 03:24 pmI wanted to pass along a tip for all of you crafty girls: Go to estate auctions, or make your parents take you if you need to. I went to an auction with my dad a few weeks ago, and the guy who the house belonged to was a major sewing buff. All of it got divided up into two piles, one had the sewing machine so I didn't want it, but no one would bid on the other pile so I got all of this for $1:
50+ patterns, most of them are for men so I don't really want them, but still.
2 tailors hams
! working iron
6 cute sew on patches
Felt!
Zippers, elastic, studs, velcro and buttons galore!
LOTS of Stich Witchery
Sweatshirt material to make cuffs (or wrist bands)
Lots of repair patches
Bias tape
Tracing paper
A cutting board
A book to display patterns in
The Encyclopedia of Stitchery
Vintage lace
A whole bag of every color of thread I could want
Needles and pins (I saw her face, it was a face I love--sorry)
All of the cardboard drawers it came in
A Miss Piggy planter (you can't really tell what it is in the picture)
For those of you who hate non-picture posts (ignore the mess, i'm getting ready to move):
